Eldoret is a fascinating city located in the north-Rift Region of Kenya. Eldoret is home to Moi University. Eldoret is a principal town in the Rift Valley region of Kenya and serves as the capital of Uasin Gishu County. The town has a population of about 475,716 people. Generally, Eldoret has a moderate to cool climate. Eldoret has a number of estates.
The town is a local manufacturing hub with a number of nationally recognised manufacturing concerns, including Raiply woods, Kenya Pipeline Company
(KPC), Kenya Co-operative Creameries (KCC) as well as corn, wheat and pyrethrum factories all within the town. The town has a vibrant textile industry that is led by KenKnit (Kenya). Another textile firm is Rivatex East Africa Limited which is owned by Moi University as a facility for research, product development, extension and production.
The town is home to Eldoret International Airport. This is a regional airport approximately 14 km from Eldoret town. It has daily scheduled flights to Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya.
There are a number of medical facilities in the city, notably Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital (MTRH); and several private institutions.
