Liechtenstein REED/TEA-LP Scholarship
The Liechtenstein Renewable Energy Enterprise Development (LI-REED) Scholarship, delivered through TEA-LP, supports pre-selected students in the MSc Sustainable Energy and Energy Access at Moi University.
The Liechtenstein Institute for Strategic Development (LISD), with support from the Government of Liechtenstein, partners with the Transforming Energy Access Learning Partnership (TEA-LP) programme at selected universities across Africa, in support of UN Sustainable Development Goal 7: affordable and clean energy for all.
TEA-LP builds human capital to increase sustainable energy access across Africa. It is funded by UK Aid and currently supports eight African universities in developing postgraduate curricula for sustainable energy access. Learn more at tea-lp.org and eurisd.org.
Eligibility and How to Apply
Successful candidates are supported by an annual stipend to complete the programme within two years. To apply, applicants must first meet the admission requirements of Moi University and its MSc in Sustainable Energy and Energy Access, and must have submitted the admission application form. Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, financial need, commitment to community renewable energy access, and contribution to cultural and social diversity goals.

Two letters of recommendation, from university professors, supervisors, and/or employers
A Letter of Motivation of no more than four pages (max. 1600 words), covering: background of the applicant including any personal experience with community energy access; why the scholarship is important to the applicant; career goals in the renewable energy access field; why this particular Master's programme was chosen; ideas and plans for the Master's thesis; and a personal statement on the wider community and societal implications of sustainable energy access
Establishment of financial need, at least one of: certified copy of the applicant's most recent tax return; certified copy of the applicant's bank statements for the past six months; certified copy of parents' most recent tax return if the applicant does not work; or other supporting documentation

Award Information
The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of two years, renewable annually subject to merit and maintenance of an acceptable academic standard. It is designed to supplement living expenses such as accommodation, food, and other related educational costs, at the recipient's discretion. Payments are issued once the award application and all verification documents have been approved and an award agreement signed. Selections are made by a committee including LISD, TEA-LP, and Moi University representatives. Renewal into the second year is not automatic; recipients must maintain their grade average, meet any other required criteria, and submit renewal materials. Payments are made quarterly.
Expected Outcomes
Scholarship awardees are required to:
Complete all mandatory courses on time
Maintain good grades and high academic standing
Submit a first-year statement of insights and academic progress as part of the application for the second year
Present a final report on their experience, lessons learned, and final academic results
